Should Pete Rose still be banned from Baseball for Gambling? I am going to answer NO! I am pleading his case to you to show that players that have been banned for the Same Sin or Worse sins have been reinstated and players have committed worse sins have not been banned and that's where I am starting.
These players should suffer a Lifetime ban if Mr. Rose is.
Barry Bonds-Obstruction of Justice
Dwight Golden-Fleeing Police and Violation of Probation (drug use)
Hiroshima Ogawa-Murder and Theft
Darryl Strawberry-Drug Possession, solicitation of prostitution
Hank Thompson-Armed Robbery
Ugueth Urbina-Attempted Murder
Luis Polonia-Sex with a Minor
Major League Baseball is condoning these Criminal Activities and saying Gambling is worse than these activities by not banning these players and keeping the Ban on Pete Rose. Baseball use to be Americas Pasttime now its Americas Shame.
The Following Players have been banned from Major League Baseball for Various Reasons. Thomas Devyr, Ed Duffy, & William Wansley of the New York Mutuals were banned in 1865 for Associating with Known Gamblers. Devyrs was reinstated in 1865 and Duffy and Wansley was reinstated in 1870.
Joe Harris of the Cleveland Indians was banned for life in 1920 after he chose to play for an Independent team rather than the Indians. Harris was reinstated in 1922.
Ferguson Jenkins of the Texas Rangers was banned in 1980 after a customs search in Toronto, Ontario, found 3 grams of cocaine, 2.2 grams of hashish and 1.75 grams of Marijuana on his person. Jenkins was reinstated and retired following the 1983 season and elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991.
Steve Howe of the New York Yankees was banned in 1992 after receiving seven suspensions for the use of Drugs. Mr. Howe got reinstated.
Even Marge "Nazi" Schott the infamous owner of the Cincinnati Reds was banned for making Racist Statements in 1996 and she was sympathetic to Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party. She was reinstated in 1998.
Major League Baseball needs to be consistent with their punishment and reinstate Mr. Rose. Please call Allan H. (Bud) Selig at 212-931-7800 and tell him you want Pete Rose reinstated.
